Day 7 of Magic: Easy DIY Origami Bats
Fangatastic bats to decorate for Halloween!
Welcome to Day 7 of October's Month of Magic, from Primary!
For today’s Month of Magic Halloween activity, we’ve found a fun paper craft to make the world’s easiest origami bats. (Finally– a fun origami project to do with the kids that won't leave you with crumpled paper and a crying child.)
This craft won’t take more than 15 minutes, and the kids can decorate the folded paper bats however they like! Once their bats are complete, tape them to the windows or hang them on a string for a Halloween decoration.
Origami Bats
You'll Need:
-
Black paper (around 20 cm x 20 cm)
-
Contrasting paper for decorating
-
Scissors
-
Pen
-
Glue
Instructions
-
Fold across the diagonal to create a triangle. Make a neat crease.
-
Take the long edge of your triangle and folds it up 1.5 cm.
-
Fold a wing down at a 45-degree angle (creating a perpendicular), and then back up making sure the fold back up is in parallel with the original.
-
Repeat for the second wing. The basic origami bat is finished.
-
Cut a wave into the wings, and cut a little shape out of the top of the head (this will also allow you to use it as a bookmark corner).
-
Decorate with paper eyes, cheeks, and add a mouth either in silver or with a darker pen!
